Delbert Dempsey Lambson, 94, lifetime resident of St. Johns, Arizona passed away, Sunday, May 20, 2018 in Nampa, Idaho. Delbert was born on Saturday, September 1, 1923 in Ramah, New Mexico to Frank Bates and Annie Laura (Mangum) Lambson.
Delbert grew up in a little house where all of his siblings were born, some of his special memories include, Ice Skating on Ramah Lake and Dancing at the local dances in town. He attended BYU and was proud of getting an "A" in Speech class from a professor that never gave out A's. On March 7, 1942 Delbert married Maxine Neal in Gallup, New Mexico. Delbert worked as a Farmer, Carpenter, Mailman and a Water Boss for St. Johns Irrigation. He enjoyed writing personal history, poetry and art. His favorite pastimes included farming, rock hunting and fur trapping. His family remembers some of his special traits and characteristics as Delbert being a wonderful story teller; his poetry and scripture famous speeches; his personal history of war experiences that he shared at firesides, youth gatherings and local museums in St. Johns and Idaho.
Delbert was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Maxine served three missions for the church in the Philippines, Virginia and West Virginia.
The Public Viewing and Friends Calling will be from 9:00 A.M. - 9:45 A.M. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the St. Johns Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 A.M. with the Concluding Services with Military Honors and Interment immediately following at the St. Johns Cemetery in St. Johns, Arizona.
