David was born on July 29, 1952 in London, Ontario, Canada, moving to southern California with his parental family when he was 11 years old. As a young man he enjoyed weightlifting, anything to do with astronomy and the space program, and geology. David and his best friend Steve Kriegh spent many hours making star charts, hiking in the southern California desert and camping.
He graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from California State College, San Bernardino in 1974 and started his career as a computer programmer.
Moving back to Canada with is young family in 1978, he worked as a CNC programmer in the logging industry in the interior of British Columbia for many years. There he met his good friend, Steve Old and their two young families had many enjoyable days camping, hunting, fishing and driving the logging roads around Prince George. He opened his first business there, a small retail software store.
David's next adventure was the move to Trenton, Ontario where he worked again as a computer programmer making intricate shoe molds for Bata Shoes. While living in Ontario many trips were made exploring the Great Lakes area, northern Ontario and the eastern part of the US sparked by his love for travel.
The move back to the States was in 1988 where David held a number of jobs and started Hodgson Corporation before buying a business called Roadrunner Fastening System. He bought and sold thousands of items for many large companies and at last he was his own boss without someone standing over his shoulder.
David designed and was the general contractor for the build of his beautiful home in Catalina, Arizona where he lived for almost 30 years. Beautiful views and the best hiking in the world was right outside his back door. Long trips to Washington State and Maine and to over 23 countries of the world were immensely enjoyed. David was an avid reader and his library contained over 500 books.
He retired to the beautiful White Mountains of Arizona in 2022 just after enjoying a wonderful 50th anniversary cruise to Alaska, a gift from his girls.
David was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and anyone who was lucky enough to know him.
