David Gray Hankamer of Lakeside, Arizona passed away on January 15, 2019 after a brief illness. David was 54 years old having been born to Charles Hankamer and Joan Hankamer Basila in Phoenix, Arizona on February 18, 1965.
David was preceded in death by his father, Charles and his brother, Dean. He is survived by his mother, Joan; brother, Daniel; sister-in-law, Ann and a son, Gray Israel-Hankamer.
David attended Brophy College Prepatorial School for two years, Girard High School and graduated from Camelback High School in 1982. While in school he was active on the soccer teams. At the age of eight years old David became an altar boy at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Phoenix.
He attended Phoenix College as a music major, a natural progression since he had developed a love for music at a young age. David and his friends organized a rock band while in high school named Triskellion. They played at the Mason Jar and other venues around Phoenix, Tempe and in California. David wanted to have a successful rock band, but his band broke up after their initial successes. David maintained his love for music throughout his life and was an accomplished guitarist and keyboardist and a successful composer.
David worked for the Good Samaritan and the Children’s hospitals for approximately 20 years in the logistics departments. Lately he was a valued employee at Darbi’s restaurant in Pinetop, Arizona. Additionally he worked at the White Glove organization whenever time would permit.
David was compassionate, sensitive and caring person. He was always willing to help anyone in need and never criticized or found fault with anyone.
David was an avid reader with primary interest in history and World War II. David was a loving son who brought many hours of happiness to his mother in his final years.
A viewing and visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Owens Livingston Mortuary~White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street, Show Low.
