Carol Shelley passed away October 8, 2022, at the Carriage House in Snowflake, Arizona. She was born in San Jose, Arizona on December 17, 1933, to LeRoy Gardner and Eva Grace Gardner.
Carol worked for 29 years as the secretary in Joseph City schools. She loved being on stage in any capacity and enjoyed being involved with community theater and often participated in the Joseph City Founders Day plays. Carol was quick witted, was always up to playing an April Fool’s joke on her children.
Carol served a proselyting mission with her husband, James Kimball Shelley, in the Texas San Antonio Mission. She held numerous church callings and her favorite was as the Mia-maids Advisor for generations of young women. Carol loved the Lord. She lived through several illnesses and accidents and her life serves as a testament that miracles are real.
Carol is survived by her children: Claire (Danny) Young of Joseph City, AZ; Curtis Kim (Diana) Shelley of Joseph City, AZ, James Doran (Jody) Shelley of Brigham City, UT; Lisa (Kevin) Frarck of Maricopa, AZ; her siblings: Wanda (Max) Thatcher, Linda (George) Shurtz, Trelva (Ron) Greenhalgh; 13 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings: Wilda (Duane) Peterson, Douglas (Jonda) Gardner, Carmen (Royd) Shumway, and Antonette Gardner.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Joseph City Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8181 Westover St., Joseph City, Arizona, with a viewing at 9:30 a.m.. Burial will follow at the Joseph City Cemetery.
