Burnett Ann Eystad went home on Tuesday, May 1st. Although we've been grieving the loss of our Mother for many years due to depression and addiction, this news is deeply emotional. Her path was often a windy road that left her family behind with worry and confusion, but that was not what she was most known for. Her stunning beauty first took anyone who knew her aback. If you were lucky enough to be close to her, you would feel that she loved deeply and unconditionally. She had the most generous soul. She would often give so much of herself even if that meant there was nothing left for her. She had a satirical and witty humor and you always knew where you stood with her while still knowing she cared. She was a strong woman and incredibly resourceful. Her magnetic personality and smile would light up the room. She laughed often and even though her thoughts were heavy, she would find the humor in everything. Her lighthearted nature traveled with her from beginning to end. She told us stories of her childhood and her many silly antics paving the way for her two younger sisters. Our childhood often included a competitive game of gotcha last that she would instigate. Wherever life took her there are stories that reflect her true spirit. We are comforted now that she is home with our other family and loved ones that have been waiting for her. She will be remembered by her recipes and love of delicious food, by her many poems and journals, and a commitment from those she inspired to live our best life. Rest in Peace, Mommy.
