Blanche Bourque Rogers

February 2, 1928 — April 30, 2019

Blanche Bourque Rogers, 91, went to be with Jesus on April 30, 2019 with her family by her side. Blanche was born on February 2 1928 in Flanders, New Jersey to Herman Biringer and Laura Dennis Biringer.

Blanche, at age 16, met Arthur J. Bourque at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. in 1944, soon married, then relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where they lovingly raised eight children. Arthur passed away in 1985 after their 41 year marriage.

Blanche enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. She made most of her children's clothes, wedding dresses and, back in the day, beautiful squaw dresses. She was a wonderful and loving stay-at-home Mom. She loved the Lord, passing that wonderful attribute on to her family. She read the Bible daily and accomplished reading the entire Bible at least seven times. Blanche was a member of First Baptist Church in Show Low, Arizona for many years and she sang in the choir every Sunday.

In 1988, Blanche accomplished her lifelong goal, earning her GED, secured a job at White Mountain Glass in Show Low, and bought a home for herself, living there for 22 years. Blanche was a member of the Show Low Emblem Club and The Divine Red Hat Ya Ya's. She enjoyed dancing and also sold Avon for 13 years. She was also famous for her lemon meringue pies.

In 1991, Blanche met and married Lyle Rogers. Lyle passed away in 1996. In 2011, Blanche moved into Solterra Senior Living in Lakeside, Arizona. She loved her time there, playing Bingo, listening to Gospel music and enjoyed her many friends there. Blanche enjoyed the company of her kitty cat, Callie, for 17 years. Blanche was an avid Diamondbacks fan, watching many games on TV. Blanche will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She never knew the meaning of a stranger.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, her husbands, her daughter Patricia Logan and her son-in-law Lon, and her grandson Arthur J. Bourque, Jr. Blanche is survived by her seven children; daughters: Dianne Cole, Kathy Stephens (Dennis), Peggy Houser (Danny), and Rhonda Knop (Jeff), and her sons; Arthur J. Bourque, Michael P. Bourque (Kathy), and Stephen A. Bourque (Dana), five stepchildren; Mike, Channy, Angie, Dana and Joy, 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, June 1, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 700 N. Central Avenue, Show Low, Arizona with Pastor Michael Heath officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pet Allies, 4050 S. White Mountain Road, Show Low, Arizona 85902; phone 928-532-1602.
