Some of his favorite fishing trips were to San Carlos to go Crappie fishing. He especially enjoyed taking his daughter and her family fishing and camping at San Carlos Lake. In the later years, he would sit in his living room and tie Jigs for his boys to take fishing. From a young age Barry loved knives. He collected knives and loved to make knife sheaths from leather. He loved to give a knife and leather sheath to his three great-grandsons on special occasions and there were many special occasions. Barry had four great-granddaughters who always made him happy. His eyes would always light up whenever they would walk into the room.
Barry was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Boy Scout leader for ten years. He loved teaching his grandsons and great-grandsons the Boy Scout skills that he taught many of the the young men of Lakeside throughout the years.
