Barbara Clayton

Barbara Clayton, 88, passed peacefully into the eternal love of God on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at home in Snowflake. She was born May 26, 1934 to the late Emma and Leo Earl Hunsaker.

Barbara was married and sealed to the love of her life, George Decker, for time and all Eternity. After the death of her husband, Barbara remarried a here-on-earth companion, Jim Clayton. After he passed away Barbara remained widowed for the rest of her life, waiting for her time to be reunited with George.

Throughout her life, Barbara was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a faithful daughter of God. Barbara devoted her life to sharing the love she received from Christ with all she knew.  She served in many church callings and dedicated hundreds of hours to doing genealogy. She loved learning the history of her family. Barbara, along with her mother Emma Hunsaker, moved to Utah where they lived for a short period. During that time they worked at the LDS cannery helping to provide food to those in need. Barbara was also an artist. She did many murals in Holbrook Arizona  when she was younger.

Barbara enjoyed traveling throughout her life. She lived in different states, and owned a couple of houses in Arizona. Barbara had a snowbird house in the valley and a primary residence in Snowflake. As she aged, she settled in Snowflake. She loved painting, belly dancing, spending time with her family, quilting with her mother, Emma, and attending all family reunions. She was the first child born in her family and the last one living. She was proud of it.

Barbara's life revolved around her three children that survive her; Danny Decker (Mesa, Arizona), Shannon Owens (Maricopa, Arizona) and Chris Decker (Snowflake, Arizona). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alex Decker, Andrew Decker, Crystal Decker, David Owens, Josh Decker, Kelsy Decker, Kyle Decker, Sarah Decker, and Stephanie Decker; great-grandchildren Auberie Rivera, Braigon Penney, Braxton Decker, Paiton Penney, Taitum Penney, Taryn Pikyavit, Trenton Penney, Truxton Penney; and one great, great-grandchild, Kailani Duplessis.

Barbara is preceded in death by both of her parents, all siblings and many extended family members.

We love you Mom/Grandma. May you find peace in the reunion you have been waiting for. We pray the Heavens are everything you imagined and dreamed of. You will forever be in our hearts.

A visitation  will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023, 4:00-6:00 pm, at Owens Livingston Mortuary~Heritage Chapel, 84 E. 19 S., Snowflake, Arizona. An additional visitation will be from 9:00-9:45 am, Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Main Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 48 N. Main St., in Snowflake. The Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be held at the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery.
