Kenneth Loyd Boyer of Casa Grande, Arizona passed away on January 28, 2018 at his home in Casa Grande. He was 84. Ken was born on June 10, 1933 in Hooker, Oklahoma to the late Theodore Kenneth and Zula Mae (Morton) Boyer. Ken graduated from High School in Eureka Springs, Arkansas in 1951. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954. During his time in the service he was an MP and Courier. Following his time in the Army he worked for his family’s electrical contracting business until 1960. He married the love of his life, Kella Irene McClelland, in 1960 and together they moved to Grants, New Mexico where he worked in an underground uranium mine for Kerr McGee until 1966. He became a member of The Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers Union during this time. In 1966 he began work at the Mayer Island Navy Shipyard rewiring submarines and in 1967 they moved to Show Low, Arizona and he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 518. Ken was a Journeyman Wireman and Member of the IBEW #518 for 50 years. He worked on many projects throughout Arizona, New Mexico and Saudi Arabia before his retirement in 2002. Some of these projects included the Paper Mill in Snowflake, the San Manuel Mine, Morenci Mine, Pinto Valley Mine, Cholla Generating Station in Joseph City, Coronado Generating Station in Springerville, the original Navapache Hospital in Show Low and the Sunrise Ski Resort. Ken and Irene finally settled in Casa Grande in 1987. He is survived by his son, Casper (Kelly) Boyer of Show Low, Arizona; daughter, Tina Boyer of Phoenix, Arizona; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and a sister, Elizabeth Boyer of Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Boyer in 2014. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Owens Livingston Mortuary~White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street, Show Low with a viewing one hour prior to the services. He will be laid next to his loving wife, Irene in the Show Low Cemetery with full Military Honors following the funeral services.
