Michael Bruce Peddie

June 25, 1931 — December 12, 2017

Michael Bruce Peddie (Mickey), died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his home in Lakeside. He was born June 25, 1931 in Baldwin Park, CA to Harward Peddie and Elizabeth (Wood) Peddie.  Mickey and his family moved to Bylas in 1941 where they ran a trading post.  He attended school in nearby Fort Thomas.  They later moved to Bowie where he graduated from high school in 1949 where Mickey was instrumental in starting the first 6-man football team.  On May 30, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Marcia Belle Harmon.  They were married for 66 years.   Mickey was drafted by the United States Army in 1952 where he trained as an Army Ranger.  Following training, he was transferred to Salzburg, Austria and achieved the rank of Sargeant.  Mickey also served many years as an Army Reservist after returning home.   Mickey spent many years in Whiteriver, where he managed the Whiteriver 76 Gas Station and Garage.  He developed many lasting friendships with the Apache people, who remained very dear to his heart.  These times, the people and the community were always very special to him.  Mickey loved taking his sons and the neighborhood kids on fishing and hunting adventures.  All the kids called him Uncle Mickey.  He and his wife, Marcia retired to Lakeside in 1989 where they built the home of their dreams.  They also spent every winter in Kino Bay, Mexico where Mickey loved deep sea fishing.  He was also dedicated to helping many families in the Kino Bay community.   Mickey was preceded in death by his wife Marcia and by his son Gerald (Jerry) Peddie; his brothers Harward and Gerald Peddie.   He is survived by his son Michael Peddie (Lori).  His grandchildren:  Michael, Ashley and Colin Peddie, and Greg and Matthew Spruce; and five great-grandchildren (who dearly loved him).    No public services are planned at this time.
