Hazel Leota Nelson

Hazel Leota Nelson, 92, formerly of Holbrook, Arizona passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 in Deer Park, Texas.Hazel was born on August 23, 1925 in Canton, Illinois.  She attended and graduated from Bowen, Illinois High School.  On November 9, 1944 she married Audrey L. Nelson.  They were married 53 years when Audrey passed in 1998.  Hazel was a past Ole member of the Holbrook Elks Lodge #2450 and attended the Holbrook Methodist Church.  She had a passion for baseball, hummingbirds, collecting owls and glass baskets.Hazel is survived by her children, Larry (Rita) Nelson of Wickenburg, Arizona, Vicky (James) Ramsey of Wichita Falls, Texas, Barbara (David) Cook-Petrinovich of Desert Hot Springs, California, and Margaret (Terry) Sims of Deer Park, Texas; grandchildren, Alicia Marquez, Aaron Nelson, Melissa Lezchuk, and Molly Vander Pluym; 8 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Audrey and her son Randy Nelson.Hazel was laid to rest Wednesday, November 15, 2017  at the Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona.
