Theodore Alexander Cofsky, passed away on September 2, 2017 at his home located in Show Low at the age of 89 years. He was born on October 24, 1927 in Millbury, Mass. Ted was a WWII veteran who proudly served as a Merchant Marine Seaman 1st Class from 1944 – 1948 crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Before retiring and moving to Arizona in 1988 Ted & Claire lived in Lawndale, California. After moving to Arizona he worked at Safeway and Horne Automotive and volunteered as a Firefighter/EMT with the White Mountain Lakes Fire Department. Ted and Claire were both active in the church and community where they enjoyed many friends and activities. Ted’s smile could light up the darkest corner of a room. He enjoyed baking and being an adult Alter Boy for Father Bill Welch at Our Lady of the Snow Church in Snowflake. Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Claire Alice Choiniere Cofsky on January 27, 2015; his parents, Ted & Rose Cofsky and his sister Marie Charpentier of California. Ted is survived by his three children; daughter, Lydia Phillips of Utah; two sons, Steven & Glenn Cofsky of Alaska; 6 grandchildren, (Lydia) Aaron, Abra Monica & Kate (Glenn), Emily & Jeremy; 3 great grandchildren, (Aaron) Benjamin & Bella (Abra) Madeline; his brother, Gerald Cofsky & wife Theresa and a sister, Cecile Langeven of California. There will be a public service on Friday, October 27 at 10 am at Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Snowflake, followed at 1 pm by an Honor Guard burial ceremony at our Lady of the Angels in Pinetop, where Ted & Claire will be together again and forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted's memory to Hospice Compassus – White Mountain.
