John Robert Allen, Jr.

John Robert Allen, Jr. of Snowflake, Arizona passed away on October 1, 2017 at his home in Snowflake. He was 89. He was born the baby of the family to John Robert Allen and Cecil Elizabeth Palmes Allen June 18, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana. John moved to Arizona in December of 1965 from Indiana. He was a skilled musician and from the age of 16 began to play music in Taverns throughout Indiana. He continued to play until just shy of his 80th birthday when he suffered a stroke. While playing with his band in Kohl’s Ranch, Arizona he met Suzanne Brewer and after 7 short weeks of dating they were married in a small ceremony in Payson, Arizona on October 24, 1967. They were just 24 days shy of celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne of Snowflake, Arizona; daughters, Patricia Allen and Marilyn Higgins of Indianapolis, Indiana; sons, John Robert Allen, III (Diane) of Newport Richey, Florida, Kenneth Lee Allen, Sr. (Karen) of Queensland, Australia and Robert Brewer Allen (Sherry) of Peoria, Arizona; grandchildren, Kaleigh, Kyndahl as well as 11 others and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Petit and a grandchild. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Centennial Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 880 North Centennial Boulevard, Taylor, Arizona with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in the R.V. “Mike” Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake, Arizona. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the White Mountain Hospice Foundation, PO Box 1975, Lakeside, Arizona 85929.
