Mardee Germaine Dayaye

December 11, 1976 — September 16, 2017

Mardee Germaine Dayaye was born on December 11, 1976 in Phoenix, Arizona at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Mardee was called home by her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Camelback Acute Post Care and Rehabilitation Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Mardee Germaine Dayaye attended Mesa Community College, Arizona State University and then Arizona State University East Campus when she changed her major to Computer Science. She became very ill and was sent home by her doctor with instructions to make memories with family. She persevered and got well enough to attend Northland Pioneer College when she was home in Whiteriver, AZ. Eventually Mardee could not attend classes anymore, but, she remained dedicated to her area of study and became the family computer nerd. Mardee overcame her illness enough to get married, move back to the valley to work for the Arizona DES program, but her illness returned requiring her to move back to Whiteriver. After her divorce, Mardee was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought this cancer hard and went into remission and was cancer free for almost four years. Then the cancer came back with a vengeance, but, she decided to get rid of it, which she did, and she was cancer free for almost four more years, when she went home. Mardee was of the Mormon Faith and attended services whenever she was able, due to her illness. She made many wonderful friends in the Mormon Church whom she loved and cared for deeply. Her faith in God and Jesus were established early in her life and she kept her faith until her passing. Mardee was temple endowed and the family will respect her beliefs and final arrangements will be held accordingly. Mardee will always be remembered for her strength, for she would persevere through serious illnesses. She will be remembered for the deep love she had for her family, relatives, and friends. She will also be remembered for her strong faith and love for God. Mardee is survived by; mother, Carol Gatewood-Kasey; father, Bob D. Kasey; and brother, Robert F. Dayaye, Jr. Mardee is also survived by her nephew, Logan Dayaye and nieces, Angela and Kristina Dayaye. Mardee considered Logan and Angela her own children and both called her “mommy”. Mardee’s maternal grandparents are Varnell Sr. and Lorraine Gatewood. She is also survived by her biological father, Robert F. Dayaye, Sr. of Tularosa, New Mexico. Mardee has now joined her paternal great-grandparents, Preston and Beulah Gatewood; uncle, Harold “Mitch” Gatewood; cousins, Henrietta Gatewood, and Ayerton Todechine and her paternal grandmother, Dora Dayaye, in Heaven.
