Pamela Jane Ryan 74, of Show Low, Arizona, passed away August 29, 2017. She was born in Grand Haven, Michigan, Nov 27, 1942, to Tom and Marie Polglase. Pam grew up in Michigan and Minnesota. During her senior year of high school she was the state typing champion. She attended the University of Minnesota where she met and married Roger Makowski in October, 1962. While in Minnesota, Pam opened and operated two yarn and needlework stores. In 1985, Pam and Roger divorced. Pam closed her businesses and moved to Phoenix where she worked as a legal secretary for the firm of Jones, Skelton and Hochulie. She met and married Dan Ryan in 1991. In 1997, Pam and Dan took early retirement and moved to Show Low in the White Mountains of AZ. Pam became a master quilter and started a very successful long-arm Quilting business. She closed down the Quilting business in 2009, due to declining health. Pam will be remembered by family, friends, quilt clients and co-workers as a devoted mother, gifted quilter, generous, kind woman, fun prankster and loving wife. She always engaged life to the fullest whether it was heading up the PTA, running businesses, sewing Halloween costumes for the kids, gardening, golfing, making children’s quilts to donate to the police department for needy or abused children, traveling the world with Dan or playing practical jokes on friends. Whatever she undertook, she did so with enthusiasm, flair and fun. Pam was and is dearly loved by all who knew her.She is survived by her beloved husband, Dan Ryan of Show Low, AZ; son, Jeff Makowski, of Portland, OR; and Kari Makowski of Foley, MN; five grandchildren-Dallas, Savanna and Montana, and twins, Genevieve and Catherine. She is also survived by three sisters and a brother - Lynne Secory, Jill Ealy, and Tom Polglase, all of Port Huron, MI, and Joanie Fox, of Hendersonville, NC. It was Pam's wish that services be limited to the immediate family. That wish will be honored at a later date. Anyone wishing to honor Pam is urged to donate to Hospice Compassus or Alzheimer's Caregivers Support Group in the White Mountains.
