Darleen Davis

September 25, 1935 — August 4, 2017

Darleen Davis died Friday, August 4, 2017 of natural causes at her home in the little community of White Mountain Lake just outside of Show Low, Arizona.  She was 81 years old.  Darleen was born on a Wednesday, September 25, 1935 in Sauk Centre, Stearns County, Minnesota to her parents, the late Reuben Edward and Maybell May (Walther) Schmidt.Darleen was a special lady.  There was hardly a stranger she ever met.  She was "mom" or "grandma" to everybody and they, in turn, loved her!  Darlene owned and operated "Mom Davis Crafts" in White Mountain Lake.  Just about everyone in town knew her and had a great deal of respect for her in the way she shared high moral values with everyone with whom she was acquainted.  She loved being a member of "Red Hatters" which is now known as the "White Mountain Chicks."  She made many lifelong friends through her association with this special group of ladies.  Crocheting was more than a craft for her; it was a passion and a way of life!  She has crocheted countless of things over the years and has gifted many of them to family and friends.  They now consider these crocheted gifts to be "priceless treasures" and will cherish them for the rest of their lives.    Darlene was a woman who liked to have a good time, no matter what was at task.  She loved to laugh.  Every week, she looked forward to her Tuesdays because that was the day she was able to go to HonDah Casino!  Whomever was with her always had a great time too.  At the casino, she was known and loved by the many who worked there.  If she didn't show up, they would call to make sure she was okay.  That was the power of her influence and great friendship.  Darleen is survived by her 3 sons:  Gary A. (Leslie McMahan) Davis, Jimmie A. Davis, Mark A. Davis; her daughter, Mary D. (Jack) Stokes; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; other extended family members, Joyce and Steve Eason.  She is also survived by a host of friends whom will, too, miss her dearly.  Along with her parents, Darleen was preceded in death by her husband, Howard A. Davis.
