Peggy M. Hudgens went to be with the Lord wrapped on the wings of the angels, Thursday June, 15, 2017 in Lakeside, Arizona. She was 92. Her 3 children, Pam Tefft, Jimmy Hudgens and Paula Fontes Hamby were with her during her last few days after a fall that resulted in a broken hip. She was born May 1, 1925 in Sayre, Oklahoma to her parents, Louis Shelton Beckner and Bessie Cora Frances Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lowell Beckner and 3 sisters, Helen Vannoy, Jo Wilkinson and Lorene Munsell. Peggy is survived by her 3 children, Pamela Tefft of Rogueriver, Oregon, James Allen Hudgens, Jr. of Bullhead City, Arizona and Paula J. Fontes Hamby (Michael) of Holbrook, Arizona; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Betty Wallace of Cashion, Oklahoma. She grew up in Oklahoma City and some of her best memories were when she would run 5 miles into town to play baseball. She was a riveter on an airplane during WWII. Peggy married Alred and had her first child, Pamela Leah Alred. They divorced after the war. From 1945-1958 she lived in San Bernardino, California where she was a car hop and met and married James Hudgens. They had two children, Paula Jean Hudgens and James Allen Hudgens, Jr.. From 1958-1971 they moved to the Lake Mohave/Bullhead City, Arizona area where James continued his construction business with Peggy as the bookkeeper. They loved the area and had many close friends. Peggy and James were divorced in 1971 and Peggy moved to the Mesa/Tempe, Arizona area and remained in the Valley until 2015. She loved to travel and would drive her RV from Canada to Mexico. Peggy lost her eyesight around 1985. That never stopped her and she became an expert in travelling by city bus, or airplane. She would travel to Oklahoma, Florida, and California to visit family and friends. In 2015 Peggy moved to Holbrook to be cared for by her daughter, Paula until she needed 24 hour care. In 2017 she was moved to the Haven of Lakeside where she was well cared for. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Holbrook Church of Christ, 335 West Erie Street, Holbrook. Interment will follow in the Holbrook Cemetery.
