George Roosa James

George Roosa James, age 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Concho, AZ on June 11, 2017.George was born on February 7, 1925, the only child of George R. James and Lorette Boyett James, in Washington, D.C.  In his early childhood, George had the honor of receiving personal invitation to and participation in Easter Egg Hunt activities at the Whitehouse under the administrations of Presidents Hoover and Roosevelt.  Later, the small family moved to Memphis, TN, where his father passed away when George was 12.  George's high school education was achieved at the Tennessee Military Institute in Sweetwater, TN.  At the age of 17, he started college at Perdue in Indiana.  In 1943, shortly after his 18th birthday, George enlisted in the Army.  He served in WWII with the 44th Infantry Division in France, Germany and Austria.  At the close of the War, in November of 1945, George was discharged.  George went on to complete his education at the University of Indiana, graduating in June of 1951, with a degree in Business.George's career eventually placed him in the field of real estate sales and brought him to Phoenix, AZ, in 1954.  George was involved in property developments, most notably the start up of the development of Lake Havasu properties beginning in 1964.  In the 1970s, George began work for First United Realty, at first in Phoenix, and then, in 1980, he transferred to the White Mountain area.  He retired from First United in 1993.George leaves behind his wife, Karla, who shared his love for animals.  Also left behind is a cousin, Mignon and her husband, Andrew Trice of Scottsdale, AZ, a stepdaughter, and her husband, Deborah and Brad Logan in Nampa, ID, a stepson, Brent Nevius in Carlton, WA, and three dear cats. In accordance with his wishes, George has been cremated.  His ashes will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ.  There will be no local services.  It was his wish to leave quietly.
