Mart V. Jennings died in the early morning hours of Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Haven of Lakeside in Lakeside, Navajo County, Arizona from causes incident to his age. He was 88 years old. Mart was born, Martin Van Buren Jennings to his parents, the late Oscar V. and Maude M. (McKinney) Jennings on April 10, 1929 in Tupelo, Cole County, Oklahoma. Mart was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the military in the early 1950s at the rank of Staff Sargent. Throughout his working years, Mart worked as a heavy equipment operator for Pinal County. He was expert in his field and made many friends along the way. As a young man, Mart married Alma (Watkins) and later married, Billie Dawn (Kimbrell). Billie passed away in 2008. Family was everything to Mart and he made sure to express his love, regularly, to his large and extended family. They, too, loved him in return and will miss him greatly.Mart is survived by his son, Kevin Marty (Rebecca) Jennings of Florence, Arizona and 5 other individuals whom he considered his children as well: Mike (Dorene) Jennings of Show Low, Bobby (Rita) Jennings of Mesa, Arizona, Robin (Harry) Yanz of Show Low, Arizona, Cindy Lewis of Show Low, Arizona, Deeva Townsend of Florence, Arizona; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and his former wife, Alma Jennings Haught. Along with his parents and wife, Mart was preceded in death by all of his siblings: Birdie (Bert) Bullard, Elmer Jennings, Ruby (Boots) Bullard, Ellis (Tite) Jennings, Cloketa (Coke) Bottoms, Oscar (Junior) Jennings, Charlie (Chock) Jennings. The funeral service for Mart will begin 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona where the viewing will begin 1 hour prior. Later, Mart will be laid to rest at the Show Low Cemetery alongside his sweet Billie Dawn.
