Logan John Wilkins

August 10, 1925 — April 27, 2017

Logan John (Jay) Wilkins, 91, born August 10, 1925 completed his life’s journey to join Jesus in heaven on Thursday April 27th, 2017.He was born in Cave City, Arkansas and came to Arizona in 1947 after completing his service in the Army in WWII.  He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded two Purple Hearts.He met and married Bonnie Farrow in 1947 in Miami, AZ beginning their lives together spanning 69 years.  Their two daughters, Vikki Olson and Jayne Wilkins blessed them with four grandsons; Stephen Olson, Phillip Click, Michael Wayne Click, and Logan Swinford, two great grandchildren, Griffin Olson and Malaeka Click.  He was one of four children with one surviving sister, Ruby Rumpf and many nieces and nephews. Jay worked as a heavy equipment operator in several Arizona copper mines and retired from Local 428 Operating Engineers as a Business Agent in 1980. Jay loved Jesus, family, friends, and fishing. His love for his church was evident in his committed service to others.  He was a living example of Christ’s words to love God and love others. A service of joy and thankfulness for Jay will be held at First Baptist Church of Pinetop, 1901 White Mountain Blvd, on May 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm.  Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled arrangements.
