Elizabeth Louise Dohrmann

Dohrmann, Elizabeth Louise “Betty” “Betty Lou”, 76, of Pinetop, Arizona went home to be with the Lord on April 11, 2017. She was surrounded by her two daughters, Deborah and Denise and her husband, Peter “Pete.” She was in the care of Hospice in her last days at home. Betty was born in Winslow, Arizona on September 2, 1940 and was the daughter of Charles Walter and Florence Elizabeth Rhyan. Her father was a freight conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad and her mother worked for the local school district. At an early age she showed a keen interest in music, especially the piano. She attended Winslow public schools and upon high school graduation attended Arizona State College at Flagstaff (NAU) where she majored in music and secretarial science. While in the sixth grade in Winslow she played the organ on Sundays at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and continued to do so coming home on weekends from college. She moved to the San Francisco Bay Area after their marriage on September 3, 1960 at St. Paul’s in Winslow. She began her business career working for various newspapers in the Bay Area in the classified ad department. In 1999, Betty and Pete moved to Pinetop to begin retirement. She became active in her church and various community activities. She played the piano at the Church of Our Savior at Lakeside on Sundays and was a member of the White Mountain Women’s Club. She was also active in the Pinetop Lakes Homeowners Association. Every year she participated in the Elks Club Clothe A Child Campaign. During her last days of working, she worked for the White Mountain Humane Society and worked on the Happy Tails Fundraiser. Betty is survived by her husband, Peter N. Dohrmann. They were married for over 57 years. Her daughters, Deborah Foxcroft and Denise Dohrmann both of Sparks, Nevada; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly Weippert, Kevin Foxcroft, Calvin Rhyan Dohrmann of Sparks, Nevada and Jillian Foxcroft-Hibbs of St. George, Utah. She leaves a brother, Bill Rhyan of Ft. Worth, Texas and his wife, Jay. Betty fought a courageous and determined fight against liver cancer and never gave up hope that she could win that battle. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at the Church of Our Savior, 5147 Show Low Lake Road, Lakeside on April 15, 2017 at 2:00 P.M.. All who knew Betty are welcome to attend. Memorial contributions, in her name, to the White Mountain Humane Society or the American Cancer Society would be welcomed by her family.
