Anthon John Goodman

September 8, 1954 — March 25, 2017

Anthon “Tony” John Goodman, 62, of Taylor, Arizona was taken home on March 25, 2017. After returning home from the hospital following a heart attack, he passed away peacefully in his sleep.   Tony was born on September 8, 1954 in Holbrook, Arizona. He was the oldest of four children born to June Johnson and John Leroy Goodman.   After graduating from Snowflake High School, he attended Eastern Arizona College. Following college he served two years for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Georgia/Florida mission.   Tony met Alice Yvonne Christie of Georgia, and they were sealed in the Mesa, Arizona Temple for time and all eternity on June 24, 1976. They moved to the Snowflake/ Taylor area where, together, they raised seven children.   Tony began working with APS Cholla Power Plant in August of 1976, where he remained for forty years, until his retirement in August of 2016.   He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He enjoyed being a father to his children, but especially loved being a “Papa” to his many grandchildren. He enjoyed telling stories and always had a joke ready for any situation.  He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.   Tony is survived by his wife Alice, and children; Michael, Christie, Rachel (William) Morris, Rebecca Rizo, Sarah (Matthew) Jacobson, Jessica (Jack) Schneider, and Nathan (Katelin); and his nineteen grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters and one brother.   Services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 1:00 PM at the Love Lake Chapel, 700 E. Love Lake Rd. in Taylor, Arizona. A viewing will be held at 12:00 PM prior to the services.  A viewing will also be held Friday evening, from 5-7 PM at Owens Livingston Mortuary, 84 E. 19 S. in Snowflake, for any who wish to attend.   Burial will be in the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery.
