Mildred Madeline Hartzell

d. January 25, 2017

Some knew her as Mrs. Hartzell. Some knew her as Millie. Some knew her as Mom or Grandma.Mildred Madeline Hartzell went home to be with Jesus on January 25, one month past Christmas and 11 days after her 92nd birthday. She was born in Pennsylvania and came with her parents and brother, Don, to Arizona in 1932. She met her husband Gene Hartzell (Pastor Hartzell) by writing letters to him while he was a soldier in Camp Walters, Texas during the second World War. They were married and had six children, five boys and a girl. (Eric, Lance, Ralan, Bret, Maura, and Clint). Clint wert to heaven first in 2008 and Pastor Hartzell followed in 2012. Pastor Hatzell took his family to East Fork Mission in 1958. Mrs. Hartzell had her big garden and raised her children. She took them fishing and camping, too. She worked at Jerry's Store and later worked as post mistress at the post office in Whiteriver to pay for her children's further education.  All the children went to East Fork Mission Grade School and High School. They were proud and thankful to have done this. East Fork Mission was home and still is. The people there are family too. In 1983 Pastor and Millie moved to Lakeside where Pastor Hartzell pastored Immanuel Congregation until he retired. Millie stayed home in Porter Mountain with her fireplace and her garden. The family is eternally grateful to Amy Staman for the loving care she gave Millie in her last years. They are also thankful to Angel Wings Assisted Living in Vernon for the wonderful and kind care they gave their mother. To all of Millie's friends and acquaintances: live well, love Jesus, and be safe eternally. There will be a memorial service at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakeside, Arizona at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017.
