Nella McCarley Egnor was born in a humble home in Snowflake on September 10, 1930 to Kenneth and Ione Allen and into a beautiful immediate family that included three older sisters and memories of a slightly older brother who had died as a toddler. Her very large extended family included her grandparents, Will and Emma Hall, and the Smith and Rogers families. In other words, she was related to most of Northeastern Arizona, an ancestry of which Nella was always very proud. With a couple of short exceptions, she grew up right in this area. She went to elementary school in Lakeside and high school in Snowflake. She married R.C. McCarley in 1950. Early in their marriage they packed up the two kids, Tadd and Dynomia, and moved to Oregon. Nella hated it, mostly being away from all of her extended family. After less than two years, R.C. brought her home and she never lived outside Arizona again. Shortly after getting back to Arizona, R.C. got a job with the Arizona Highway Department and Nella, R.C. and the two kids moved into the little white house at the highway yard across from what is now Hondah, between Pinetop & McNary. It was here where they added three more children, Vonnell, Robert (Bob) and Allen NeMar and raised their very happy, typical 50’s family. Unfortunately, at a young age, R.C. contracted a terrible disease and after a 14-year struggle, passed away. After several very hard years and some very hard times, Nella began seeing and eventually married Charles (Chuck) Egnor. He became a welcome part of the family and treated Nella like a queen. They moved to Mesa, where they lived until Chuck found out he had cancer. Before he died, he brought Nella back to the place he knew she loved. She has lived in Show Low since his passing. She out-lived her daughter, Dynomia Kay, all three of her sisters, two husbands, and ex-husband and a very special man friend. She had a great life. Nella is survived by her daughter, Vonnell & Fred Lang of Alpine; her son, Allen Nemar McCarley of Show Low; her son, Bob & Tish McCarley of Phoenix; and her son Tadd McCarley of Show Low; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, & 7 great-great-grandchildren. She died in her humble home in Show Low on January 10, 2017. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Show Low Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1401 W. Deuce of Clubs, with a Viewing 1 hour prior. Burial will follow at the Lakeside Cemetery.
