Barbara Mae Chartrand of Shumway, Arizona passed away on January 1,2017. She was at her home in Fountain Hills, Arizona with three of her surviving children by her side. She was 86.A private family celebration of her life and burial in the Shumway Cemetery will be held to honor her final wishes.Barbara was born January 16, 1930 in Globe, Arizona to Bob and Azalea Jones. She went to high school in Globe and married Lee F. Chartrand on May 12, 1950. They were married for 64 years and together owned and operated the Southwestern Stone Company in Taylor, Arizona for 33 years. She is survived by four of her five children, Robert, Lloyd, Debra and Denise, as well as ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.She is reuniting with her husband Lee (2014), her son Don (2010), two beloved grandsons, Roy Chartrand (2001), and Monty Eoff (2014).Barbara loved her many friends. She loved to laugh and her wonderful humor made everyone laugh with her. She loved to travel. She always knew where her shoes were, so if someone said "let's go..." she had her shoes on and ready to go before you could finish. She loved to bowl and spent many years bowling in a league at the Show Low Bowl. She loved to play softball and racquetball. She was very active and you would never find her napping in the day, and to be honest, couldn't understand why anyone would. She would say, "You can nap when you're dead." So nap now, Mom. Sleep well and in peace. You earned it.She was first and foremost a mom - to her children, her children's friends, her grandchildren, her neighbor's, friend's, and stranger's children, and all the little baby animals that came into her life. She was just a beautiful, loving mom and friend to all.The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from everyone, and especially Hospice of the Valley for their incredible service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any of your choice or http://salvationarmyusa.org/usn/what -we-believe. Condolences may be left on the Owens Livingston Mortuary website at http://www.owenslivingstonmortuary.com
