Mary Alma (Wolfe) Lindquist, age 74, of Show Low, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and loved ones on December 13, 2016. Mary was born to Percy Alvin Wolfe and Louise C. (Strange) Wolfe on November 5, 1942 in Flagstaff, AZ, the third of five children. She grew up in the Flagstaff and Williams area spending a lot of her childhood on the family homestead in Williams, playing and working with siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins. She called them “the Good Old Days”. In 1957, joining her sisters for a night of skating at the roller-skating rink in Flagstaff, she set her eyes on a tall, dark and handsome fella, Donald Edward Lindquist, (our dad) who had the best moves on the floor they had ever seen. She won his love and attention. It was love at first sight. They married February 24, 1958 and began their small and happy family of three children. Don and Mary celebrated over 58 years together and taught us how, with the ups and downs that life throws us, to stay united as partners, as family. Our mom was the matriarch of our family. She was the bravest, strongest, most opinionated woman we could have been blessed to have in our lives and she will continue to live on inside of us. We will miss her sometimes sarcastic sense of humor, speaking her mind no matter what, keeping us in check and just her loving patience and forgiving soul. She had three bouts with cancer, which she fought valiantly. She kept her willingness to keep on fighting until her body said they were ready to go and be with the love of her life, her husband Don, who left us on March 28, 2015, after making sure her surgery went okay and she would keep on living. Her strength through all these years has taught us so much-to love and care for each other as a family, forgive often, let go of the bad stuff, and to stay strong. We thank you, Mom, with all our hearts and we will see you again. Mary is survived by her three children; son, James E. & Tami Lindquist (Show Low), daughters, Kathy L. Lindquist and Willie Zenizo (Tucson) and Jan M. and Wayne Schinke (Show Low); stepson, Tony Lindquist (Tucson); sisters, Pat Thombugh and Lorraine Wolfe (Show Low); brother, Percy A. Wolfe (NM); 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Zelma Talley (AK). Our family would like to thank Accord Hospice and E. Borrego for helping us through this tough time and just for being there in our time of need. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 12:30 P.M. at Owens Livingston Mortuary, 320 N. 9th St., Show Low, Arizona.
