Bertha Dean Beatty died early in the morning of Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. She was 57 years old. Bertha was born on a Wednesday, March 25, 1959, in Navajo County, in the White Mountains of Arizona to the late, Eubank Beatty and June Williams.Knowing the importance of having a good education, Bertha attended college after her high school graduation. She also enlisted in the United States Air Force, 1978-1981, receiving an honorable discharge from the military. Following her release from the air force, Bertha began a long career working in forestry for the White Mountain Apache Tribe and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She was distinguished in being one of the original Apache 8. Bertha was an active and dedicated member of the Lutheran Church throughout her life. She lent a helping hand to everyone in need. She cooked in countless community activities and ceremonial traditions. She was compassionate, charismatic, very generous, intelligent, articulate with her words, sociable and she was a philanthropist. The wake for Bertha will begin 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 18, 2016 at her family home, 3010 W. Miguel Avenue in Whiteriver, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Canyon Day Miracle Church, where Pastor Gary Lupe will officiate. The graveside service and interment will immediately follow at the Beatty Family Plot in Cibecue, Arizona. Bertha's family is thankful for all of the expressions of sympathy they have received during this difficult season and are especially grateful for all of the prayers offered up on their behalf.
