Ronnie Wayne New

June 14, 1946 — October 10, 2016

Ronnie Wayne New died on Monday, October 10, 2016 in Pinetop, Arizona.  He was 70 years old.  Ronnie was born on a Friday, June 14, 1946 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana to his parents, the late Nathaniel and Grace Evely (Morrow) New.  As a young man, Ronnie heard the call of his country and entered into its service, where he was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.  He served with fellow comrades who were part of the 585th Engr Company as well as the 937th Engr Battalion.  He served faithfully and received his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in December of 1967.It was also in 1967 that Ronnie married his first wife, Margaret.  They had been married for 30 years when she passed away in 1997.  Ronnie worked as a machinist for 27 years for Mitchel & Scott Machine Company in Indianapolis, Indiana where he proved to be a responsible, dedicated and trusted employee.  He moved to the White Mountains of Arizona in 1992 and worked 13 years at Show Low's Walmart. His service was always delivered with a warm and gentle smile.  He was a kind and caring man who treated everyone with a great deal of respect.  Also, while living in Show Low, Ronnie worked a short while in the pest control business.  He was known to many as "an excellent handyman" who took pride in all of his work.  Whatever the task, he did it to the best of his ability.  Ronnie was a man who believed in "preventative maintenance" and loved to help his family and friends with diagnosing, and fixing, their mechanical problems. In 2007, Ronnie's life brightened up again when he met a pretty blue-eyed girl named Janice Johnson.  They quickly became each other's constant love and support.  They wed in 2014.  When Ronnie wasn't working, he spent his time doing things he enjoyed with his wife.  He loved going to the movies and spending time in the great out-of-doors.  He loved taking long walks around town with Janice and always looked forward to his next hike.  He was a man who appreciated the beauty of vintage cars.  He loved going to car shows to see, up close and personal, all of the classic cars.  He was also known to be a motorcycle enthusiast and, throughout the years, had even owned a few of them.  Also, during his free time, Ronnie enjoyed antiquing.  His house was full of treasures that he had accumulated over the years.  Ronnie's family finds comfort in knowing that he was warmly welcomed into the bosom of God when he passed away.  Many will miss this soft-spoken, humble and gentle man whom always used his words wisely and in a kind manner.  Ronnie is survived by his wife:  Janice M. Johnson-New; his daughter, Angela Sosnicki (Scott Dyer); 3 grandchildren:  Andrew Dyer, Amelia Dyer, Cassandra Dyer (Cameron Hughes), 1 great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Hughes; niece, Julia Stump; nephew, Patrick Quarles and by his half-sister, Joyce New.  He also leaves, to mourn his passing, his dear friends:  Larry Gunther, Hank Traub, Gari Ann Nawrocki, Breanna Nawrocki, Bob Nawrocki; Zane & Sherry Gray; Donald & Mary Swan and Devin & Robin Squire.  Along with his parents and first wife, Ronnie was preceded in death by 2 sisters:  Shirley Kidd, Margaret Quarles; 2 brothers:  Clyde New, Morris New and by his infant son, Ronnie New, Jr. Military honors will be rendered 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N.
