Verona Gaye Seaman

April 17, 1928 — October 6, 2016

Beloved mother, grandmother and friend Verona Gaye Davis Seaman, left this earth on Oct. 6, 2016 with courage and grace. She was born April 17, 1928 in Richfield, Utah one of seven children born to John L. and Florence Davis. Gaye attended elementary school in Venice, Utah and high school in Richfield, Utah. She later earned a degree from BAC, now known as Southern Utah University. While attending BAC, Gaye met the love of her life, Don Dee Seaman. He was very tall and she was not, but she always said how safe she felt when he was near. Don and Gaye were married in the LDS Manti Utah Temple Sept. 12, 1949. Thus began a life of adventure, due to the many varied assignments of Don’s job as a Forest Ranger and later Administrator for the United States Forest Service. They lived in many locations including Blacksmith Fork, Soapstone, Brighton, Teasdale, Beaver, all in Utah, Boise Idaho, Taos N.M., Flagstaff, Washington D.C. and Albuquerque N.M. The earliest of these assignments required Don and Gaye to live on-site, 24/7, in a small forest station house.Gaye and Don were blessed with three sons: Michael Don, Leslie Davis, and Richard Dee. She was devoted to them and they loved her dearly. Most fond memories are centered around family activities, such as playing card games, skiing, Lake Powell, and simply being together. She was a very competitive card player and loved to play with Don and any other family members who happened to be there. She always had homemade cookies in the freezer.Gaye was a talented artist, especially using watercolor. Most of her family members and friends have a painting of hers. She also created many beautiful crewel, embroidery and needlepoint pieces. Gaye was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When Don retired, they moved to Show Low. They enjoyed happy times there with children and grandchildren nearby Gaye and Don enjoyed traveling to different places around the world, including China, Panama, Wales and Ireland. After the heartbreaking loss of her husband to cancer, Gaye lived on, with courage and dignity. “We will be forever grateful for her example of kindness to others, her cheerfulness and ready smile, her delightful sense of humor, and her faith.”Gaye was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four siblings, two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She is survived by her sister, Mary Jensen (Marcus) and brother Lynn Davis (Luana) as well as her three sons: Mike (Kim) Show Low, Les (Linda) Flagstaff, and Richard (Carla) Kaysville Utah, 13 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. “She will be missed here, but we are comforted that she is joyfully reunited with her husband and loved ones.”Funeral services will be held 2:30 P.M. Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Show Low Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1401 W. Deuce of Clubs, Show Low. Interment will follow in the Show Low Cemetery.
