Daniel Wayne Turner

d. September 6, 2016

Daniel Wayne Turner 55, died at his brother's home on September 6th, 2016. He is survived by his father Manny and step mother, Kathy Turner of Hennessey, Oklahoma, and his mother and step father Susan and Bob Moffett, of Show Low, AZ, his brother Mitchell Moffett and his sister Stacey Stanislawski, niece Kaitlyn Stanislawski, and nephew Tyler Benton.  He had many relatives in Oklahoma and Texas. Danny lived his life in Arizona from early childhood.   Danny was a unique individual. Born brain damaged from hypoxia, Danny attended special education classes and he read well. His comfort zone was being with his family. He sometimes astonished them with Savant happenings. As a child he was glued to the Moon landings and he wanted to be an astronaut. On an outing with his family to the Air force Base in Tucson he wandered off by himself and when his family found him he was talking to a man at the rocket exhibit, asking him how many pounds of thrust it took to get that rocket in the air.   He did enjoy his own apartment for a few years, with help, but medical problems led him back to live with family. He wanted to live with his brother Mitchell. He lived with Mitchell in Globe, AZ for a time and recently in Show Low. Danny’s life style, for the most part was enjoying sitting in his chair in front of his T.V.  and  going to the kitchen to get something to eat, and a coke. Although he attended many Special Ed programs he liked being home with his family and going to movies. He always enjoyed outings with his family.  His brother Mitchell took him to Disneyland and when they were leaving he asked if they could go to Knottsberry Park.   He was a challenge and he was much loved. His mother commented that Danny was a 55 year old education for her. From the day he was born, he presented the family with many issues to deal with and although he was a focal point for all of the family, many lessons were learned and Danny was his own individual whose existence was his family. It wasn’t always easy. All of the prayers for him from family and friends throughout his life have been fulfilled. Thank you Lord for sending us such a unique individual to love.   Memorial Services to celebrate Danny’s life will be Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 11:00a.m. at Owen’s Livingston Mortuary, 320 N. Ninth Street, Show Low, AZ 85901. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the White Mountain Hospice Foundation, P.O. box 1975, Lakeside, AZ.85929.
