Barbara “Bobbie” Louise Bronke passed away, just 10 days after celebrating her milestone 80th birthday, surroundedby her loving family. She was born on August 3, 1936, the youngest of 10 children to Winifred and Jennie Griffin. She married Robert Bronke Sr. on February 5, 1955. They had three children, Wanda, Robin, and Robert Jr.. Dad was in the Navy and Mom reveled in the world traveling. From Germany to Okinawa, finally spending three years in Istanbul, Turkey, where she lived amongst the Turks and learned to speak some Turkish. You never heard “I can’t” or “it’s too hard” from Mom. She was an amazing, strong, courageous and wonderful mother. She filled our world with security, love and compassion. She settled down in San Diego and as a single mother she worked tirelessly to support her children. It was always about family for Mom. In 1990 she established her restaurant, “Bobbie's Place” and then in 1993 she relocated, opening up “Bobbie's South” where she remained in business for a total of 18 years. She loved baseball, especially her San Diego Padres. She collected many Padres memorabilia throughout the years, and displayed it at her restaurant for all to enjoy. When she retired in 2008 it was as an icon in Chula Vista, CA. She will be remembered and missed beyond words. She is survived by her twin sister, Betty Meyer, of Higganum, CT.; her loving children Robin & Robert Jr; her grandchildren Stephanie, Emily, Barbara, & Bob and many nieces and nephews of Connecticut. A special thanks to her hospice nurse, Beth Harbold, and all of the Hospice staff, as they were incredible. In remembrance of Bobbie, any donations could be made to Hospice Compassus of Lakeside, AZ 85929
