Calvin Wray Bismarck

August 2, 1925 — June 15, 2016

Calvin Wray Bismarck, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at his home in White Mountain Lake, Arizona. He was born August 2, 1925 in Joliet, Illinois to Clinton Orr Bismarck and Bernice Eva Krueger Bismarck.

Calvin was a beloved friend to all who ever met him. His kindness was known to all of his friends. He served in the United States Navy during WWII on a destroyer escort vessel. He was also a member of the VFW. Calvin lived in Lockport, Illinois until about 33 years ago when he came to Arizona. He was a man who enjoyed building things; he was a life long member of the Carpenter's Union as a Master Carpenter. He was an active member of the Congregational Church in Illinois, and then an active member of the Baptist church in White Mountain Lake.

He is survived by his daughter, Kara Bismarck Thurbush; 3 step-children, Maryann Olen, Jeanne Grommon and Virginia Kay Carlson. He also had one grandchild, Jon Belair and 3 nieces, Mary Lynn Mattson, Debi Bismarck and Lisa Boutwell. One nephew, Keane Bismarck. He was preceded in death by 2 wives, Katherine Bismarck and Genevieve DeYoung; and his loving companion, Janetta Payne.

A public visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Owens Livingston Mortuary-White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th St. in Show Low, Arizona, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 pm at the White Mountain Lake Community Baptist Church, 8320 Lone Pine Dr. in White Mountain Lake, Arizona.
