Our beloved father, Lewis Wayne Nieman, passed away peacefully, from the effects of failing organs, on Sunday morning, June 12, 2016. Lewis was born August 28, 1951 in Geary County, Junction City, Kansas to Lewis Furland Nieman and Charline June Henderson Nieman. He was the second of four children. At the age of four his family moved to Sacramento, CA where he attended high school at James Marshall in West Sacramento. His family then moved to Oklahoma City, OK and shortly after his arrival he met the love of his life, Linda Jeanne Munsey and they married in January 1970. They had two children who he loved and adored. He had the opportunity to do many different jobs throughout his life, including working as an engineer at Proctor and Gamble in Jackson, Tennessee, to later owning his own business of interior and exterior painting and decorating in Florida, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Colorado. He was a natural artist and expressed his love of nature in many drawings. Lewis loved to travel and enjoyed adventures of fishing, hunting, boating, camping, snow skiing, motorcycle riding and spending time with family and friends. His parents Lewis F. and Charline J. Nieman Nov 2008 and 2009 preceded Lewis Wayne in death. He leaves two amazing children Leilah Jeanne (Tracy) Kyrk of Mustang, OK and Lewis Allan (Cristina) Nieman of Oklahoma City, OK, and, three grandsons Nicholas, Zachary, and Johnathan Nieman all of OKC, OK. Three loving sisters, Lucinda (Gene) Petersen, Las Vegas, NV, Lenora ‘Kandee” (Jimmy) Shumate, Jackson, TN, and LaChelle (Scott) Knott-Boltz, of Show Low, AZ; nieces and nephews Brandy Smith, Benja Calley, Buffy Kraft, Tiffany Daisy Englet, and Jessica Williams, James Dallas Shumate, Jonathan, Jared, and Jordan Knott. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Lewis’ name to Colorado Parks and Wildlife. His family and many friends will deeply miss Lewis and the tales of his adventures, escapades and travel. He often said, “Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you are climbing it.” The Kyrk and Nieman families would like to express appreciation to the staff of CareSource Hospice and Owens Livingston Mortuary for their expert and loving care.
