Lanny "Shotgun" Howard Witt passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 22, 2016 after a long battle with a multitude of illnesses. He was with family residing in Snowflake, Arizona.Lanny was born in McNary, Arizona on October 1, 1946. He graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1965. Shortly after, he joined the United States Air Force. Stationed in Battle Creek, Michigan and Vietnam, serving 6 years. He bravely fought for his country, and later, his life. He had been battling stage IV lung cancer before finally entering remission 3 years ago. He was devout in his faith and an active member of the LDS community.Lanny is preceded in death by his Grandparents: Denzel and Tempest Penrod, his Parents: C. Weldon and Loree Witt, Brothers: Gorman Witt, Rick Witt and Terrell Witt. He leaves behind a Brother, Duane (Stella) Witt, a Sister, Sheree (Mike) Lish, Cousin Mela (like a sister) Clayton, Daughters: Sonia Witt, Yvonne Witt and Chaunte (Vernon) Cavanaugh, and 5 great grandchildren.Lanny was a generous, loving man that made friends with everyone he met. Never a stranger to any. He loved his family fiercely and was fond of kidding with us all. He was "Gramp" to everyone, and his loss is felt deeply. Until we see you again, "Gramp"...we love you!No public services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements were handled thru Owens Livingston Mortuary-Whit Mountain Chapel of Show Low, Arizona.
