Dean Mason Peterson

August 25, 1936 — April 30, 2016

Dean  Mason Peterson, 79, went home to the Lord on Saturday morning April 30, 2016 at his home in Lakeside, Arizona. He and his twin brother David were born August 25, 1936 in Oak Park, Illinois. He grew up in Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1959 as a mechanical engineer, and member of the Theta Xi Fraternity Brotherhood. In 1959 he married Cynthia Lamoreaux and they moved to Phoenix, Arizona where their son Randy (Nelly) and daughter Valerie (David) were born and raised.In 1970 he started his business, San Tan, and designed and sold many products used in the mining industry all over the  world. Retiring in 1995 he and Cindy moved to Lakeside, Arizona where he could continue with his hobbies.Dean loved hunting, fishing, shooting, model trains and riding motorcycles with his three grandsons Eric and Aaron Peterson and Ben Williamson. Dean has taken all the Arizona big 5 game and when he became ill, Cabelas purchased the taxidermy animals. He hunted and fished in many areas in the states, including Alaska and Canada. Motorcycling took him across the US and in Europe along with Randy and the boys. He and Cindy loved model trains and made a big layout which they worked on for years. He joined the White Mountain Bullseye Shooters Club and could always win any family shooting competition with all of the family boys. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cindy, his children: Randy (Nelly), Valerie (Dave), his grandsons: Eric, Aaron (Heather) and Ben Williamson, Christina Noriega and Carolyn Duncan. He was preceded in death by his twin brother David, his parents Raymond and Marian and his sister Lois.White Mountain Bible Church was his second home here in the mountains, where we will have a memorial service on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 am in the church with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the White Mountain Shooters Club to help pay for their new range. Contact Bill Weldon at 928-536-3232.
