Jack Neal Trout

October 27, 1934 — November 30, 2015

Jack Neal Trout departed from this earth peacefully to be with the Lord, on November 30, 2015, joining his parents, Clifford and Evelyn Howell Trout and older brother Jim Trout. This husband, father and grandfather will be missed by his beloved wife and best friend of 60 years, Patricia Fowler Trout; daughters, Jacque Hall (Dale) of Oklahoma, Janet Savage (Marco) of Idaho, Donna Brownlow (Brian) of Pinetop and son, Ronald Trout (Joni) of Mesa, who blessed them with 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry of Phoenix, Virgil of Sedona and Bob of Glendale. Jack was born October 27, 1934 in Scott’s Bluff, Nebraska.   Jack’s parents moved their family to Phoenix in 1946 where they opened a grocery store. Active in Boy Scouts, Jack earned his Eagle rank and enjoyed instructing scouts at camp in marksmanship and wilderness survival. He graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1952 where he did everything well. At Phoenix College Jack studied architectural drafting, and played basketball and football. As a journeyman carpenter, Jack taught the Apprenticeship Program at Phoenix Union High School until he became a general contractor in 1962. Jack and Patti then moved their young family to Snowflake, AZ and then to Lakeside in 1964 where he built many things for many good people here on the mountain that he called home. Jack was an active participant in the Little League Program, coaching Senior League for 15 years; he, along with friends built the ballpark that is still used today.   Jack was supportive of his children’s interests whether it was sports, scouting, 4-H, dancing or music, and spent countless hours at practices and events. When Jack wasn’t working on someone’s home or pouring concrete, he was busy planting his vegetable garden or working in his apple orchard supplying fruit for Patti to turn into jams and jellies.   Jack taught his children to be self-reliant and to persevere in their endeavors. He also loved teaching his grandchildren to fish for crawdads, and spent countless hours playing checkers and participating in “tea parties.” He was equally proud of his children and grandchildren and they gave him much joy.   Jack was fortunate enough to remain close with many of his high school friends, creating many memories for he and Patti as well as their children who enjoyed adventures with those friend’s children. Jack also very much appreciated the friendships he made within his community and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He was known by many, and was well respected.   Please join in a celebration of Jack’s life to be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Our Savior Episcopal Church, 5147 Show Low Lake Road, Show Low.   The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations honoring Jack be made to: Blue Ridge Little League, P.O. Box 1152, Lakeside, Arizona 85939 or the Humane Society of the White Mountains, P.O. Box 909, Lakeside, Arizona 85929, www.HSWM.org.
