Dr. Walter Gene Schroeder, 81, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at his home in St. Johns Arizona. The beloved son of Water and Esther Schroeder, he was born November 30, 1934 in Bay City, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan and went on to become a highly respected doctor in Ishpeming, Michigan. During the Vietnam War, he left to serve his country as a Captain in the Air Force before returning to Ishpeming to resume his medical practice. After 25 yrs. as a beloved friend and physician, he moved to Prescott, Arizona in 1988 and practiced another 22 yrs. He was always ahead of his time when it came to new methods and procedures that would help his patients and added hypnosis, as well as homeopathic and alternative medicine to his repertoire. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He met and married his first wife, Shirlee Arndt in 1955 and they had three children. Following their divorce, he married Barbara Johnston with whom he had two more children. He married his third wife, Kathleen Chaperon, in 1984. His parents and his brother, Gary Schroeder, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen; daughters, Beth (Brad) Peterson, Laurie (Hal) Burns, and Katie Schroeder; sons Jeffrey and Stephen Schroeder; step-sons Andy and Adam Fuson; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and sisters Janice (Don) Linden and Janice (Glen) McNeil.No public services are planned at this time.
