Betty Rhea (Overmier) Barrow, 92, of Sedona, Arizona, formerly of Holbrook, Arizona, died March 5, 2016, at Sedona Winds Assisted Living, in Sedona, Arizona. She was born January 20, 1924, in Decatur, Illinois, the third of four children born to Clayton Leslie Overmier and Hazel Dell Coffeen. The family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1929. Betty graduated from Albuquerque High School, where she met her husband, John Daniel Barrow. They married in Albuquerque in 1943.Betty and John volunteered with Holbrook Little League for over 50 years. Betty was an avid seamstress, quilter, and crafter. She was a member of the Holbrook quilt guild and the Sedona Red Rock Quilters. Betty enjoyed genealogy, woodworking, and gardening. She worked as a bookkeeper at Pender’s Laundry, in Holbrook, and as an assistant in the Navajo County Cooperative Extension Office.Betty attended The Holbrook United Methodist Church and Church of the Red Rocks, in Sedona. She was a Past Matron of Liberty Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Past Mother Advisor of Painted Desert Assembly IORG, member of The American Legion Auxiliary, Holbrook Hospital Auxiliary, Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout and Brownie Scout Leader, PTA member and volunteer in the Holbrook schools. She was considered a model citizen of the Sedona Winds community, where she participated in many activities, including learning to swim at the age of 80 and donating a quilt a month to children with cancer. Surviving are two children: Len (Karen) Barrow, of Sedona, and Barbara (Ron) Busick, of Peoria, AZ. Also surviving are grandchildren, Katy (Brad) Bippus, Steve (Stephanie) Barrow, and Robert Busick, and great-granddaughters Keetra and Aneeka Bippus. Two brothers and one sister survive: William C. (Ann) Overmier, Lois (the late Wm R.) Gregg, and Jack (the late Betty Ann) Overmier. Two step-grandchildren and their families also survive Betty: Misty (Rich), Agnes, and Nicholas DeReus and Joe (Sara), Samantha, Emma, and Hudson Busick.At Betty’s request, funeral rites by Liberty Chapter #23, Order of the Eastern Star will be performed at the graveside service Friday, March 11, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Holbrook (AZ) Cemetery.
