Jeanne Evelyn Hamlin died Sunday, January 24, 2016 at her home in Snowflake, Arizona from causes incident to her age. She was 95 years old. She was born Jean Evelyn (but, she always preferred the beautiful spelling of J-e-a-n-n-e) to her parents, the late, Jay "Fred" and Eve (Laughren) Duey.Jeanne graduated from Cleveland High School in the late 1930s. After her graduation, she attended business college where she received her academic "know-how" to become an extremely skilled legal secretary. A few short years later, in 1944, Jeanne moved from her native Ohio and headed west, settling in Phoenix, Arizona. She made Phoenix her home for 30 years. While living there, she worked at the Law Firm of Moot, Kemp & Galloway, for decades. In the early 1950s, Jeanne married her second husband, Loyce Merwin Hamlin. In 1974, the Hamlins moved to Payson. While there, Jeanne worked as dispatcher for the Gila County Sheriff's Office from the late 1970s through the early 1980s. After living as a "Paysonite" for 18 years, she and Loyce moved to Snowflake, Arizona where they lived the remainder of their years. Sadly, on November 30, 2006, her husband of well over 50 years, Loyce, passed away. She was (and is) forever grateful to that man she considered to be her "best friend."Jeanne never was one to sit idly by. She always was working on one project or another. She spent countless hours, sewing and was a real fine seamstress. She could make just about anything and, even up to her final months, collected all types of sewing patterns and fabric. Too, Jeanne was a woman of great faith. She loved the Lord "with all of her heart, might, mind and strength." She was a true Christian, in every sense of the word, as she followed the Lord's admonition to, "Love one another." Jeanne was a people person and spent her life in the service of her family, friends and neighbors. She possessed a genuine love and concern for all within her life. This sweet lady will be missed by her family and many friends.Jeanne Evelyn Hamlin is survived by her 2 children: Starlet Jones of Phoenix, Arizona, Mark Hamlin of Snowflake, Arizona; 3 grandchildren: Adam Jones of Phoenix, Arizona, Jessica Hamlin of Texas, Ashley Hamlin (Chris Rhine) of Phoenix, Arizona; 2 great-grandchildren: Caiden Rhine of Phoenix, Arizona and Addison Rhine of Phoenix, Arizona.
