Jacquelynn "Jackie" Packer

October 26, 1920 — January 21, 2016

Jacquelynn "Jackie" Rogers Packer passed away on January 21, 2016, in Snowflake, Arizona from causes incident to her age.  She was 95 years old.  Jackie was the daughter of Ola Eva Cooper and Samuel Patterson Rogers.  She was born on October 26, 1920, in Snowflake, Arizona.  She only had an older brother, Bryl.During her early years, they moved to Whiteriver, Camp Verde, Mesa and then, back to Taylor when she started in the 6th grade.  Their home was always a gathering place for kids.  Her mother enjoyed feeding them and joining in their fun.Her father was killed, during her junior year of high school, in an automobile accident while working on the construction of Lone Pine Dam.  Jackie's mother was in Salt Lake City caring for a sick friend at the time.  Jackie moved to Salt Lake City with her mother when school was out.She worked in many jobs throughout her long life.  She was a waitress, clerk and bookkeeper.  During the war years, she worked for Remmington Arms Manufacturing, and Ogden Arsenal in Utah.  In 1986, she retired from Fedco Bulk Store, where she worked in sundries and customer service.She met and married Karl Packer after WWII and always regretted not having children.  This marriage lasted about 3 years.  She cared for her mother in her final years and treasured her time with her.  She always said her nieces had been such a joy in her life.  Jackie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her long life. Her church callings were in the Primary and in the Relief Society.  She also was the Stake Tablecloth Caretaker and was the Stake Single Adult Group Coordinator for more than 20 years.She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Bryl Rogers.  Jackie is survived by her former sister-in-law, Lois Mills; her nieces:  Patty (Larry) Boyster, their 2 sons and families; Charlene (Tony) Trujillo, their 3 sons and families; Debbie Flores, her daughter and son; and Denise (Larry) Wilson, their 2 sons and families.We would like to say "Thank-you" to all who have visited and assisted Jackie through the years, especially the Lloyd and Mildred Willis family, who made her a part of their family.The funeral service for Jackie will begin 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Taylor Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 309 W. Willow Lane in Taylor, Arizona, where the visitation will begin 1 hour prior.  The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor, Arizona.   <a href="http://www.owenslivingstonmortuary.com/"><img src="http://owenslivingstonmortuary.com/sitemaker/sites/OwensL1/images/TransparentLogo.png" border="0"></a>
