The Heavens rejoiced and an earthly family mourned the passing of a special daughter of God, Janet May Petersen Crandell, on January 20, 2016. This sweet, simple country girl was born May 9, 1941 in Clay Springs, Arizona to Thorvald Woodrow and Mary Blanche Petersen.At the age of 15, she married her best friend and sweetheart, Albert William Crandell. They made their home of 59 1/2 years in Clay Springs. Together they raised a family of 10 children. Her life was spent in service to their family. A good example and astute words of wisdom guided and lead her children and others. Janet was kind to everyone. She enjoyed learning, gardening, the outdoors and road trips. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served as Primary President, Relief Society President and a teacher. Numerous lives were touched because of her goodness.Throughout the years, a close bond was maintained with her sisters Louise Barrows (Clay Springs), Clara Reidhead (Heber) and Thora Perkins (Show Low).Janet is survived by her husband, Albert Crandell; children: Bert (Tammy) Crandell of Safford, Cameron (Deanie) Crandell of Clay Springs, Doris (Archie) Reidhead of Clay Springs, Brenda (Lavar) Merrill of Linden, Darla (Allan) Greathouse of Clay Springs, Oman (Celeste) Crandell of St. Johns, Wesley (Beverly) Crandell of Safford, Marcus Crandell of Clay Springs, Janel Del Angel of Clay Springs and 43 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and brother; a son, Owen Dale Crandell; a grandson, Ralph Albert Merrill and a great grandson, Trever John Lines.Mom, we love you and look forward to being reunited as an eternal family. The public visitation and viewing for Janet will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Clay Springs Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 515 Highway 260 in Clay Springs, where additional visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Clay Springs Cemetery in Clay Springs, Arizona.Janet's family is thankful for the expressions of sympathy they have received during this difficult time and are especially grateful for all of the prayers offered up on their behalf.
