Katherine Cruz Cosay, of Whiteriver, Navajo County, Arizona peacefully passed away on December 12, 2015 surrounded by her loving family in Lakeside, Navajo County, Arizona. She was 68. Katherine was born to her parents the late, Owen and Mary (Call) Cruz in Chino Springs, Navajo County, Arizona on February 14, 1947.Katherine began teaching in 1974 and after a break returned to teaching in 2011. She was a Pre-school and Headstart teacher for 37 years for the White Mountain Apache Tribe. Her and her late husband, Ian, loved to disappear in the woods and explore the backroads. She was an avid Arizona Cardinals fan and would sit for hours watching football. Katherine found her happiness from any and all children, especially her grandchildren. Her hobbies included reading novels, word seach puzzles and sewing. She is survived by her daughter, Carla Quesada; sons, Jimmie Scott and Shane Cosay; Traditional Goddaughter, Melissa Riley Tortes; Godson, Adam Adley; Goddaughter, Connie Burnette; 12 grandchildren; brother, Manuel Cruz; sisters, Tina Cruz and Gloria Williams as well as many nieces and nephews. A wake was held 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 18, 2015 at the family residence. Funeral services were held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the East Fork Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Morning Dove Cemetery.
