Walter Douglas Portenier

Walter Douglas Portenier, age 87, passed away on December 17, 2015 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona. He was born in Severance, Doniphan County, Kansas on May 8, 1928, and cam tot Glendale, Arizona in June 1944.He was employed as a mechanic until he moved to Holbrook, Arizona in April 1961 where he opened a Western Auto Associate store. His parents were Walter and Pearl Portenier of Glendale, Arizona. He graduated from Glendale High School in 1946 and married Madonna Lindsey of Bisbee, Arizona in 1949. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Madonna of Holbrook; sons, Keith of Holbrook and Daniel of Scottsdale and Hungary; sister, Geneva Grosstick of Texas and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Timothy who went to be with the Lord in 2002.Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the Holbrook Cemetery, Holbrook, Arizona.
