Dave was born January 6, 1956, the son of George and Gay Stewart. Dave grew up in Commerce Township, MI, where he attended Walled Lake Schools and graduated from Western High School in 1974. He later received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Flint, where he majored in Environmental Science and Planning. This program was a natural choice for Dave, because of his love of the outdoors. Growing up he thoroughly enjoyed all that Oakland County has to offer—lakes, rivers, and parks. Dave worked for many years for General Motors, at several locations. He accepted a transfer to Reno, Nevada, where he later took an early retirement. This allowed him to travel the western US—one of his passions. He eventually settled in Show Low, Arizona, but continued to travel extensively, in spite of failing health. Dave became a Christian in high school, owing to the influence of a good friend, Tom Blake. Dave and Tom remained friends throughout Dave’s life, and it was a friendship Dave always cherished. Because of this friendship, Dave was able to grow in his faith. Wherever he went, Dave attended church and made friends with fellow Christians. In Show Low, his friendship with the Romero family, among many others, was a source of great happiness to him.Dave is survived by his father, George Stewart and his siblings: Linda Boritzki, Ruth Kusiak, Scott Stewart and Nancy Bergum. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, fourteen in all. Dave was always ready to spend time with them, quality time which they will always cherish. Whether it was playing hide-and-seek or sledding, Dave was there. Dave had a very generous heart and was always ready to give.We will all miss him deeply, but not forever. Dave, we will see you again, in a place where there will be no sorrows or physical limitations. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Dave's church, Cornerstone Church, Show Low. Thank you.
