Leonard Ray Jones

Leonard Ray Jones died during the final hour of Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the home of his daughter in Chandler, Arizona. He was 71 years old. Leonard was born on December 1, 1943 in Wide Ruins, Arizona to his parents, the late Phillip and Nellie (Lee) Joe. Throughout his life, Leonard was a hard worker. He made his living as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. When not working, Leonard enjoyed being in the beauty of the great-out-of-doors. He was a rancher, as well, and taught his children, by the sweat of his brow, the value of hard work. He was a true horseman and an excellent horse training skills and received a lot of joy riding them. He also loved the guitar and enjoyed singing. He was well-versed in classical country music. Above everything, Leonard's family always came first. He loved each member of his family so very much. He was a wonderful father to his children and his grandkids adored him. He truly will be missed a great deal by everyone whom has had the opportunity to call him father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his 3 daughters: Lynette Jones of Chandler, Arizona Lynn (Brian) Shepherd of Chandler, Arizona, Lisa (Tony) Jones-Palomarez of Gilbert, Arizona; his son, Leland Jones of Gilbert, Arizona; 4 grandchildren: David Trevino, Marc Terzan, Bryanna Jones, Corbin Shepherd; 3 great-grandchildren and a sister, Cistah Tsosie. Along with his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Baldwin Jones and 2 sisters as well as his brother. The funeral service will begin 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 14, 2015 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Klagetoh, Arizona. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Klagetoh Community Cemetery. Leonard's family is thankful for all of the expressions of sympathy they have received from their community of friends and are especially grateful for all of the prayers offered up on their behalf.
