Wilbur "Slim" Hinton, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend to many was born to the late, Peter Hinton of San Carlos, Arizona and Rhoda (Smith) Hinton of Camp Verde, Arizona on January 29, 1950 in San Carlos, Gila County, Arizona. Wilbur passed away on October 8, 2015 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona. Funeral services were held at the Rose of Sharon Church in North Fork, Arizona on Friday, October 16, 2015, officiated by the Reverend Ralph Holmes. Burial services were held Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Middle Verde Cemetery in Camp Verde, Arizona. Per his request he was laid to rest near his mother and relatives. He is survived by his wife, Lona Johnson-Hinton; his daughter, Bernina Rolland (Londo); 2 grandsons, Jamille (Tony) and Austin Hinton; 2 granddaughters, Kera Altaha and Kendra Rolland; 2 great-grandsons and his foster brother, Mr. Abe Martinez and his family. Wilbur was employed with the BIA-Fort Apache Agency where he retired in May of 2013 as a Supervisory Forestry Technician. Wilbur stood out and was recognized for his professionalism and competence on the forestry staff. He made sure the job got done, but was never too busy for a joke, kind word or horseplay. He made everyone feel at home in Whiteriver and was a kind, generous, and fun man who lived a good life and helped others.
