Violet A. Eberley

Violet A. Eberley passed away November 5, 2015. She was 101 years old. She was born on April 9, 1914, in San Francisco, California to the late John and Elna (Larsen) Larsen. Her husband, Charles, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 3 daughters: Shirley, who died of pneumonia at the age of nine months; Charlene, who died of heart failure at the age of 76 years and Patricia, who died of cancer at the age of 67 years. Violet graduated from Livermore High School in 1932. Charles and Violet were married at City Hall in Oakland, California on September 15, 1933. They were married for 67 years at the time of Charles' death on July 24, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Johnson of Lynchburg, Virginia, Martha Eberley of Lakeside, Arizona and Vicki Picard of Pinetop, Arizona. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She has resided in Lakeside for the past 38 years. Violet belonged to the Rebecca's for a number of years. Charles and Violet also belonged to a Square Dance Group. Violet was an active member of the Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church. Throughout her life, Violet worked for Heinz Cannery, Dromedary, Golden State Fabric and J.C. Penney for 10 years. She and Charles raised 5 daughters; she was a fabulous cook and seamstress. Violet sewed clothes for her children because it was economical to do so. Charles and Violet made holidays very special for their children. She was a very loving and caring Mother. She made all their Square dancing outfits and she made wedding dresses for her girls. They went to all the special events that their children participated in at school. In California, they were members of a group that did Exhibition Square Dancing and traveled around the country. After they retired and moved to Lakeside, they traveled the country visiting their children, they made trips to Oregon, Florida, Tennesse and New York State. They both were avid campers. They both enjoyed the outdoors. They both will be missed a great deal. A special memorial service for Violet will take place in the Spring of 2016 on Saturday, April 9, 2016 (which would have been her 102nd birthday) at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, 2035 S. Penrod Lane in Pinetop. The inurnment will immediately follow at Angels' Rest Columbarium at St. Mary of the Angel's.
