Lydia Emma Hatch

Lydia Emma Hall Hatch passed away peacefully in her home in Taylor, Arizona on October 22, 2015 at the age of 88. Lydia was the youngest of George A. Hall and Geneva Penrod's eleven children. She was born March 19, 1927 in Whiteriver, Arizona where her father worked as a government agent at Fort Apache. In her early youth her family moved several times, but her fondest childhood memories occurred while living on a ranch in Linden, Arizona. Lydia dearly loved the people of Linden and they became lifelong friends. Owing to their influence and examples, she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 12. She often cited her baptism as one of the proudest days of her life. Lydia married John Kirk "Trapper" Hatch on October 19, 1945. They made their home in Taylor, where they were blessed with eight children. Lydia relished her role as a mother and grandmother and was truly the heart of her home and family. Lydia devoted her life to family and church service, and always found her greatest joy while serving those around her. All were welcome in the Hatch home and no one ever went hungry. In 1973 she and Kirk bought the old 77 Café in Taylor and renamed it Trapper's Café. This began a family legacy that continues today. After Kirk's passing, Lydia managed Trapper's on her own. Even in her retirement years she could be found making soup for hungry customers. Lydia was never afraid to try new things and her sense of adventure carried her to many faraway places. She loved learning and mastered each advance in technology in order to stay connected with her family. Lydia was beloved by many and her boundless influence will be felt for generations to come. She was preceded in death by her husband Kirk and son Bill (Gloria Aul). Lydia is survived by her brother Charles Hall and a loving posterity of a hundred and twelve including her children Marion (Deanne Hunt), Fay (Oona Sherwood), Denise Reidhead (Marcus), Loretta Pringle (Kris), Hal (Cindy Smith), Julie Stephens (Doug), Joe (Brenda Roberts), 29 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 26, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Love Lake LDS Chapel, 700 E. Love Lake Rd., with a visitation 1 hour prior. There will also be a visitation at the Hatch Family Residence at 429 E. Tumbleweed Dr. in Taylor from 5:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, October 25, 2015. Interment will follow at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery.
