Adaline Taylor

d. August 25, 2015

Adaline Cecelia "Janie" Smith Taylor passed away on August 25, 2015, in Surprise, Arizona, with her loving family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, William Raymond, Maurice Franklin, and Darwin Randolph, and her beloved husband, Allen Richard "Dick" Taylor who passed away in 2004. Janie was born in Seattle, Washington, on March 1, 1936, to William Raymond Smith and Adaline Cecelia McElliot. Janie was also an Irish citizen by descent and was very proud of her Irish heritage. She grew up in California and Northern Arizona and attended Snowflake High School. She met and married the love of her life, Dick Taylor, in Holbrook, Arizona in 1954. They moved with their two daughters, Kellie and Kerrie, to Winslow in 1966. Janie worked at the Sears Catalog store in Winslow and was manager of that store for many years. In addition to her duties at the Winslow store, she also managed Sears stores in Holbrook and Showlow. She was active in Winslow's Women's Club and Sorority organizations and served as President of the Winslow Women's Club. She loved to dance, swim, cook, sew, and take care of her family. She also enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and water-skiing at Cholla and Roosevelt Lakes and Lake Powell. She had many cherished friends and loved reminiscing about the good old days. She is survived by her daughters, Kellie (Dave) Edwards, Kerrie (Max) Yanez, her four grandchildren, Amanda Yanez, Rebecca Edwards, Daniel Edwards, and Alexe Yanez, and her three great-grandsons, Noah, Blake, and Xander, all of whom were her pride and joy. She adored and loved her two "sons" Dave and Max dearly, and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law. A private ceremony will be held in Pinedale, Arizona, when she and Dick are interred together at their final resting place.
