Shirley Ann Payne, age 82, passed peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, with her family in attendance, at her home in Show Low, Arizona. She was born April 17, 1933 in Mercer, Missouri to Obediah Melvin Cochell and Marie Elizabeth Seifert Cochell. She lived in, and around, St. Joseph, Missouri most of her life until moving to Arizona about 20 years ago. This is not the first obituary written for her. The first was published in 1938, at age 5, after an accidental shotgun discharge to her head. The attending physician put her right eye back in its socket, wrapped up her head, and predicted her to pass by that next morning. That prediction proved to be 77 years premature. She ultimately discovered relief from life long head pain in the higher altitudes of Arizona's White Mountains. Shirley is survived by Charles, her husband of 60 years; three children, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. We are all eternally grateful for the honor to have known and loved her. Rest in well deserved peace Mom. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Owens Livingston Mortuary-White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th St. in Show Low, Arizona. Visitation will take place 30 minutes prior to the service and 30 minutes after the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph, Missouri at a later date. Arrangements were handled thru Owens Livingston Mortuary-White Mountain Chapel in Show Low, Arizona.
